From April 27 to 30, 2026, the University of Salerno took part in the in-person meeting of the NEOLAiA Mobility Support Team, organized within the framework of Work Package 4 – Enhanced Mobility and hosted by the Université de Tours in France.
Representing UNISA during the meeting were Macarena Escobar Fuentes, member of the Mobility Support Team, and Jasmine Fusco, WP4 Task Force. They actively participated in the working sessions focused on strengthening and harmonizing international mobility processes within the NEOLAiA European University Alliance – Transforming Regions for an Inclusive Europe.
The event brought together representatives from international offices and individuals directly involved in the activities of Work Package 4, with the aim of exchanging ideas and best practices on strategies to improve academic mobility programmes. Particular attention was devoted to fostering greater integration among administrative procedures, student support services, and staff mobility development initiatives.
Throughout the working sessions, participants explored key topics such as the harmonisation of mobility processes, with a specific focus on aligning practices among partner universities, simplifying automatic recognition procedures for academic pathways, and developing Blended Intensive Programmes (BIPs) as innovative tools to expand exchange opportunities.
A particularly significant moment of the meeting was the “Fair for Staff”, an exhibition and networking session during which each partner university had the opportunity to set up an informational stand to present its institution, mobility programmes, and main opportunities for international collaboration. Academic staff, administrative personnel, and participants were able to visit the various stands, engage directly with university representatives, and initiate discussions on potential future synergies, thereby strengthening the sense of belonging within the NEOLAiA alliance and promoting new academic and institutional collaborations.
The following sessions focused on the mobility of academic and technical-administrative staff, exploring strategies to encourage participation and make mobility opportunities more accessible. Attention was also devoted to long-term student mobility, with discussions aimed at making international pathways increasingly inclusive, sustainable, and effective, while emphasizing the development of intercultural competences as essential elements for fostering meaningful participation and effective dialogue in international academic environments.
The meeting concluded with a shared reflection on the future perspectives of the NEOLAiA project and on the actions to be implemented in the next phase of the alliance, reaffirming the importance of European cooperation in building a more integrated higher education system.
The participation of the University of Salerno in this event represents a further step in strengthening its commitment to internationalisation and to the consolidation of European collaboration networks, actively contributing to the creation of new mobility opportunities for students, academic staff, and administrative staff.
