On October 10, 2025, the University of Salerno hosted the event “NEOLAiA@UNISA: Past, Present and Future of UNISA in the European Alliance”, a meeting dedicated to showcasing the university’s achievements within the NEOLAiA European University Alliance and exploring future opportunities for collaboration and innovation.
The event opened with institutional greetings from Prof. Vincenzo Loia, Rector, and Prof. Virgilio D’Antonio, Rector-elect.
Prof. Vittorio Scarano, NEOLAiA Coordinator for UNISA, presented the aims and structure of the Alliance, which brings together nine universities working to create an integrated, innovative European campus.
Prof. Bice Della Piana, Scientific Coordinator of the NEOLAiA project for UNISA, then outlined ongoing activities within UNISA, followed by Prof. Scarano, who presented future initiatives and plans for the university’s engagement in NEOLAiA.
Finally, Prof. Francesco Donsì, Rector’s Delegate for Internationalization, discussed the perspectives and long-term vision of European University Alliances, announcing the upcoming NEOLAiA Plenary Meeting, which will take place at UNISA from December 2 to 4, 2025.
NEOLAiA Testimonial in UNISA
A highlight of the day was the NEOLAiA Testimonial in UNISA session, moderated by Prof. Vittorio Scarano, which brought together professors, researchers, and administrative staff engaged in the various activities of the Alliance.
The session served as a valuable opportunity for sharing experiences, best practices, and perspectives on interdisciplinary collaboration across departments and offices of the University.
Discussions focused on the main areas of cooperation and development within UNISA’s NEOLAiA initiatives: international mobility for students and staff, Blended Intensive Programmes, the student mentorship program, and the enhancement of European skills and values.
Speakers also discussed ongoing projects such as the creation of joint degree programs, progress on the HRS4R (Human Resources Strategy for Researchers) process, activities in third mission and technology transfer, and initiatives promoting innovation and sustainability.
The session highlighted the diversity and richness of expertise involved in NEOLAiA, confirming UNISA’s pivotal role within the Alliance and the importance of interdisciplinary collaboration as a driving force for academic and European integration.
The event concluded with a networking coffee, fostering dialogue and new synergies among participants within the Alliance.
