The University of Salerno welcomes Cătălina Gabor, a student from Ștefan cel Mare University of Suceava (Romania), currently at UNISA as part of the Language Assistant Exchange Program (LAEP) within the NEOLAiA Alliance.
Cătălina’s mobility takes place under Work Package 7 (WP7), which focuses on language policy, multilingualism, multiculturalism, and the promotion of interculturality across the partner universities of the Alliance. WP7 aims to strengthen the European and international dimension of academic life through mobility programs, language initiatives, and activities fostering intercultural dialogue.
The LAEP program is one of the concrete actions supporting these objectives: selected students spend a mobility period at a partner university, assisting in courses taught in English, promoting English Medium Instruction (EMI) practices, and contributing to the creation of inclusive and internationally oriented academic environments.
Cătălina holds a BA in Philology, where she studied English Language and Literature alongside German Language and Literature, and she is currently pursuing a Master’s degree in Philology, specializing in English in the Digital Age. Her academic interests revolve around language, culture, and education.
At UNISA, she supports courses taught in English and actively contributes to fostering intercultural dialogue among students. Passionate about teaching, she also volunteers in educational settings, including teaching English in a kindergarten. For her, teaching is not only about language, but also about culture, curiosity, and helping learners feel confident in their educational journey.
After a previous exchange experience in Augsburg, Germany, Cătălina strengthened her commitment to international environments and cultural exchange. She is now excited to continue this journey in Salerno, exploring Italian culture while contributing to the academic community within the NEOLAiA Alliance.
