On 16 and 17 September 2026, the University of Salerno will host the activities of Work Package 8 – “Adopting and Sustaining Open Science” of the European NEOLAiA project.
The two-day programme will provide an opportunity for collaboration and exchange among the universities participating in the NEOLAiA Alliance, combining internal working sessions with an event open to the university community and the wider public.
16 September – WP8 Meeting
The first day will be dedicated to the internal meetings of Work Package 8, bringing together representatives of NEOLAiA partner universities for working sessions and discussions.
The programme will include sessions focusing on WP8 activities, training and the use of Open Data tools, as well as the sharing and analysis of Citizen Science activities developed by the partner universities.
17 September – NEOLAiA and Open Culture @UNISA
On 17 September, the University of Salerno will host “NEOLAiA and Open Culture @UNISA”, a public event dedicated to Open Culture, Open Science and Wikimedia projects.
Starting at 9:30, the programme will feature institutional greetings and a series of presentations exploring the role of open knowledge in teaching, research and the dissemination of knowledge, with contributions from the academic, library and Wikimedia communities.
Following a coffee break, from 11:45 to 13:00, participants will take part in a guided editathon focusing on the Wikipedia entries of NEOLAiA partner universities. The practical activity will involve checking, updating and improving content related to NEOLAiA and each university’s participation in the Alliance, with particular attention to the different language editions of Wikipedia.
The activity will also provide an opportunity to become familiar with the basic principles and editorial practices of Wikipedia, demonstrating how open knowledge tools can contribute to the visibility and dissemination of university activities.
The first part of the event, from 9:30 to 11:30, will also be live-streamed on YouTube, allowing members of the wider NEOLAiA community and other interested participants to join remotely.
