On 4 and 5 June 2026, at the Happy Village in Marina di Camerota (Salerno), the Formative Educational Visit (VIF) organised by Bimed, an associate partner of the NEOLAiA project, transformed the local area into a genuine learning environment. The activities were carried out through educational workshops coordinated and led by Professor Vittorio Scarano of the Department of Computer Science at the University of Salerno and project coordinator of NEOLAiA.
Immersed in nature and in an informal setting, pupils from different classes, schools and regions took part in structured educational programmes, engaging in activities that combined hands-on experience, peer collaboration and guided discovery of content. The village thus took on a significant educational role, demonstrating how knowledge-building can develop effectively even beyond traditional school settings. A place generally associated with leisure and relaxation was transformed into a dynamic environment for participation, discussion and growth.
Open Data and understanding the European University Alliances
The workshop proposed an innovative approach based on the use of Open Data, with the aim of fostering a greater understanding of European University Alliances and their contribution to cooperation between European universities.
The activity took place in an unplugged and collaborative format: students analysed textual content and verified information by comparing it with visual representations of the data, distinguishing between correct and incorrect statements presented in different formats. The programme helped to strengthen skills in critical reading, data interpretation and information verification.
The experience highlighted how learning becomes more meaningful when the local area, educational innovation and active participation are integrated into a single educational pathway. In this balance between reality, exploration and collaboration, knowledge transcends the boundaries of the classroom and translates into a concrete, shared and informed experience.
