NEOLAiA Research Networking: 3 Travel Grants for PhD Candidates and Postdoctoral Researchers at the University of Salerno

October 16, 2026

As part of the NEOLAiA Research Networking activities, the University of Salerno is launching a selection procedure to award travel grants to PhD candidates and postdoctoral researchers interested in participating in the NEOLAiA European University Alliance Research Networking meeting, which will take place on 18–19 November 2026 at the University of Nicosia, Cyprus.

Three grants of up to €1,000 each will be awarded to support the participation of early-career researchers, with one person selected for each of the three thematic tracks. The grant will be provided as reimbursement of mission expenses incurred to attend the event, in accordance with the University of Salerno’s Travel Regulations.

The NEOLAiA WP5 Research Networking event is designed as an active research and matchmaking workshop rather than a conventional conference. Its proposed structure follows a “Meet → Match → Develop → Commit” approach, aiming to turn research interests into concrete collaborations among NEOLAiA partners, project ideas, research teams, publications, mobility opportunities, and access to shared research capabilities.

The thematic areas currently envisaged are:

  • Track 1 – Artificial Intelligence and Data Science for Health and Life Sciences: applications of artificial intelligence and data science in biomedical, clinical, and demographic contexts, as well as research in healthcare and the life sciences.
  • Track 2 – Responsible and Human-Centred Artificial Intelligence: exploring the ethical, legal, social, and psychological dimensions of artificial intelligence, including governance, fairness, transparency, privacy, and human–AI interaction.
  • Track 3 – Global Health, Health Systems, and Resilient Communities: addressing global demographic and health challenges, with a focus on prevention, health inequalities, environmental health, health systems, preparedness, policy, and implementation.

Eligible applicants: current PhD candidates and postdoctoral researchers at the University of Salerno, including holders of research fellowships, research grants, or research appointments, provided they have obtained a PhD, as well as holders of postdoctoral research appointments.

Selection procedure:

Applications must be submitted to the Selection Committee by 24 October 2026, using the online form available at the following link: https://forms.gle/D5emjftNRM4JsiRQA.

Applications must include:

    • Current research topic (maximum 2,500 characters);
    • Motivation for participating in the meeting (maximum 1,500 characters);

The Selection Committee will evaluate the applications and select one person for each track. Applications will be assessed on a total of 100 points, distributed as follows: CV – 40 points; research project – 60 points, broken down into the relevance of the research topic (20 points), motivation (20 points), and identified collaborations (20 points).
