Following the first technical meeting with the UNISA Technical Office, the representatives Ferrandino and Sparano put the WP9 team in contact with Dr. Giuliana Piegari from the Planning and Development Office, to explore the possibilities for integrating micro-credentials at UNISA, during a meeting held on Tuesday, April 15, 2025.
During the meeting, the discussion focused in particular on the possibility of integrating digital badges and micro-credentials within the Esse3 portal, the university information system for managing students and courses, as well as the need to establish internal regulations to clearly distinguish between digital badges and micro-credentials.
The discussion confirmed the technical feasibility of digital badges and opened the door to a pilot project on selected programs. For micro-credentials, further work is needed to align with European standards and complete the technical steps for issuance.
This second meeting represents a key step in strengthening the collaboration between WP9 and UNISA’s technical offices, with the goal of creating a reliable and secure digital system for issuing innovative, recognized, and interoperable certifications at the European level.
