The NEOLAiA Virtual Café opens to Sumy and Kyiv

September 30, 2025

In September 2025, the NEOLAiA Virtual Café expanded its access to include the alliance’s associated partners, with the official opening for Sumy State University and, shortly after, for the Borys Grinchenko Metropolitan University of Kyiv.

For Sumy, the activation was made possible through Google authentication, a solution adopted because the university is not part of the eduGAIN/GARR federation used by other NEOLAiA institutions. This alternative access method now allows Sumy members to join the platform, participate in discussions, and collaborate with colleagues across Europe.

A few days later, Kyiv University completed its activation process, integrating instead through eduGAIN, the international system that enables secure sign-in using institutional credentials.

With these new integrations, the Virtual Café strengthens its role as an inclusive and collaborative digital space, open to all institutions within the NEOLAiA network and designed to foster dialogue and academic exchange in a shared and secure environment.
