Evaluating Impact in Citizen Science

2025 | Event | WP8

September 26, 2025

On September 25, 2025, the online seminar “Evaluating Impact in Citizen Science” was held as part of NEOLAiA’s WP8 activities. The session was led by Maria Angela Pellegrino, Assistant Professor in Computer Science and expert in evaluation and data analysis, together with Vittorio Scarano, WP8 coordinator and Professor of Computer Science at the University of Salerno.

The seminar focused on the importance of evaluation in citizen science projects, introducing methods and tools to measure their impact. Participants were introduced to questionnaires, key metrics, and digital platforms for data collection, with a special focus on the newly developed NEOLAiA Evaluation Toolkit (NET) – a lightweight, shared framework designed to ensure transparency, comparability, and replicability across initiatives.

This event marks an important step in the development of the NEOLAiA Citizen Science Toolkit, which will support citizen science activities between 2025 and 2027, providing the alliance with a common foundation for assessing and enhancing impact.
