In June 2025, the Milestone 50 – “Guide on how to create a VR/AR Living Lab in the Metaverse” was successfully completed under Work Package 9 (Digital Transformation) of the NEOLAiA alliance. The guide, now available online, provides practical instructions and technical details for establishing a VR/AR laboratory within the metaverse, supporting pedagogical innovation and interdisciplinary research.
The document consolidates the outcomes of extensive design and pilot testing activities, leading to the definition of the NEOLAiA Metaverse Lab model, including guidelines on physical and digital infrastructure, hardware specifications, software platforms, and educational applications. The lab has already been tested in pilot environments and represents a concrete step towards immersive, inclusive, and sustainable teaching, reducing geographical barriers and fostering virtual mobility opportunities.
UNISA played an active role in drafting the guide, contributing to the methodological framework and technical requirements definition, in collaboration with WP9 partners. The University of Salerno’s involvement further strengthens NEOLAiA’s commitment to digital transformation in education and the adoption of emerging technologies for research and learning across Europe.
