On June 3 and 4, 2025, the University of Ostrava hosted the in-person meeting of NEOLAiA’s Work Package 2 (WP2), offering a valuable opportunity for dialogue and collaboration on teaching and learning activities across the alliance.
Among the central topics of the two-day discussions was the development of effective internal communication strategies to better disseminate key NEOLAiA initiatives—such as the Focus Academy (FA) and the Summer Schools—within and across partner universities.
The meeting also provided a space to define the roadmap for the upcoming academic year for the three fora within the Pedagogical Hub: the Teaching and Learning Forum, the Organizational and Administrative Forum, and the PhD Student Forum. One of the highlights was the proposal to develop four innovative toolkits for NEOLAiA university teachers, aimed at enhancing their skills in pedagogical innovation, international collaboration, inclusive teaching practices, and English-medium intercultural education.
A particularly engaging session was the workshop dedicated to building a common glossary—a collaborative effort to discuss and reflect on the nuanced meanings of key terms such as pedagogical innovation, inclusion, syllabus, resources, and registration. This interactive exercise is a meaningful step toward minimizing misunderstandings and improving internal communication across institutions.
An open discussion on upcoming challenges reinforced the need for a shared strategy to ensure regular and coherent communication of WP-specific updates—especially given the growing interconnection between different work packages and related activities.
The meeting ended with an enriching exchange between WP2 representatives and NEOLAiA students participating in the physical component of the Summer School in Digital Humanities and Social Science.
An inspiring and thought-provoking experience for all participants!
