From November 26 to 28, 2024, Bielefeld University hosted an essential face-to-face meeting of the NEOLAiA alliance’s Work Package 3 (WP3), focused on Diversity & Inclusion (D&I). The core objective of this meeting was to finalize the first draft of the D&I NEOcharter, a key document aimed at promoting inclusion, respect, and equal opportunities among partner universities.
UNISA’s Contribution
Delegates from all participating institutions worked collaboratively, discussing and refining each part of the document. The University of Salerno (UNISA) made a significant contribution by helping outline various sections of the document and sharing best practices in D&I, such as the Buddy System Program for internationalization at home and intercultural inclusion, and Laboratorio H, a dedicated support system for students with disabilities.
Beyond Work
During their stay in Bielefeld, participants had the opportunity to explore the city through a cultural tour and visit its charming Christmas markets. The evenings featured social dinners and informal gatherings, enhancing networking opportunities and further strengthening collaboration among attendees.
Next Steps
Over the coming months, efforts will focus on the final approval of the NEOcharter, which will serve as the common D&I policy for all universities within the NEOLAiA alliance.
